• Reset a password using PowerShell

  A couple of customers have asked me about this one in the last few hours.  A currently undocumented ability with Remote PowerShell and Exchange Labs/LiveID is the ability to reset a password.   The command is simply: set-mailbox -identity user@example.edu -password pass1234   In context of everything you need to do to get this running for all you PowerShell newbies out there: :Connect to Exchange Labs Runspace 1. $LiveCred = Get-Credential 2. $rs = New-Runspace -Shell Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri https://ps.exchangelabs.com/powershell/ -Credential $LiveCred  -Authentication Basic 3. push-runspace $rs :Reset the password 4. set-mailbox -identity user@example.edu -password pass1234  :Gracefully exit runspace 5. pop-runspace 6. • community submitted scripts related to Exchange Labs

  We got our first script related to working with Exchange Labs submitted to the blog...thanks to Jonathan Holman of Tennessee State University!  You can find it here; he is using it to query their AD for newly created user accounts and then creating a csv file with only those new users in it.  The file can then be used with CSVImport, for example, to create mailboxes.   Microsoft actually has a repository for scripts like this if anyone is feeling altruistic.  It is the catchily titled Community-Submitted Scripts Centre, and even I submitted a script here in the past.  There is an area in there for Exchange scripts already.   There have been some comments in this blog on my posts, and I also get a load of questions.  Spaces has a Guest Book feature I will turn so that folks can ask their questions publically...or if, for example, you have a script or best practice you want to share, you could do it there or send us a link to your community script.   Jonny Posted Friday, October 17, 2008 10:44 PM from Live@Edu Blog | 0 Comments Filed under: Exchange Labs

• Pilot Quickstart - some sample CSV files

  In order to assit with a bulk user creation, and in connection with my previous blogs on the topics of user creation and user deletion, I have created a couple of csv files to help you out.   Students.xls will create 500 users for you.  Just go to the feeder tab, enter in your Exchange Labs domain which will make sure that each user account gets the right LiveID, and then save the file as a CSV file...ensuring that the list is the active sheet at the time.   DelStudents.csv will delete those same users.   Enjoy   Jonny Posted Monday, July 21, 2008 8:31 PM from Live@Edu Blog | 0 Comments Filed under: Exchange Labs

• Create and Manage a Manual Distribution Group in Exchange Labs
