Ahead of my plenary keynote at the BAPCO 2007 conference tomorrow (billed as "the public safety communications and IT event"), some background reading for those attending (or merely those with an interest in the topic). I'll be talking about "Inter-agency collaboration and co-operation empowered by technology" - in the context of course of the Civil Contingencies Act, 2004.
It wouldn't be right I suppose to give too much away now - but let's just say I'll be looking at the work around connected systems, federated identity and ad-hoc peer-to-peer networking.
As to some of the references, in addition to the CCA above (which underpins the regulatory/business environment), the following to me are some of the key technical developments relevant to meeting these needs - and successfully delivering inter-agency co-operation that is agile, effective, secure and privacy-aware:
