    Ideas for Reference Implementations

Please post here your ideas for possible Reference Implementations, not just for the Connected Health Framework, but in general in the area of Healthcare and Health Communication and Information Technology.

This is not a "commitment to implement" :-) but a way to discuss the most recurring topics and where people feel they need advice.

It will be nice to see an implementation that covers HL7/Biztalk 2006/MOSS, especially the connectivity between system workflow (BizTalk) and human workflow (WF), also leverage the power of InfoPath over the web form.  In addition, Identity management is becoming a really hot topic these days, I wonder how InfoCard can play a role between those products.

I know, I'm asking for too much...:)

    Re: Ideas for Reference Implementations

The Connected for Health initiative is a terrific one and over time, its envisioning and blueprint should overcome the interoperability of disparate systems.

A key challenge for Providers and Life Sciences companies sponsoring patient studies is integrating upstream patient data such as patient diaries with downstream feed into clinical data warehouse. As a healthcare IT strategist in the Asia Pacific markets, the ubiquity of the mobile phone and access to broadband provides tremendous opportunities for extending CFH. One of the ideas for countries such as China and others in Asia is to provide an online portal mechanism that can be accessed by patients from their mobiles through GPRS/EDGE devices that are very popular here.

The downstream benefit is creation of a Clinical Data Warehouse from these diaries. The B2C population and demographics capable of providing a variety of data on clinical encounters and patient data is highest in the region and CFH can take advantage of this by extending this concept for their partners to customize.

I also though of few more suggestions:

     1) What plans does Microsoft for Azyxxi, is that something that can be included within the Implementation.

    2) Can we see some more integration with some of the leaders in the Industry like McKesson

    Re: Ideas for Reference Implementations

As you probably have seen from the HIMSS news, we have posted our first reference implementation for the Connected Health Framework reference architecture:

    • Health Connection Engine (HCE): The Health Connection Engine is a reference implementation based on the Connected Health Framework architecture. HCE allows for faster and incremental development and deployment of connected eHealth solutions. HCE is released as an open source project on CodePlex.

I hope you find this useful and if you do, please contribute by posting things that you'd like to see added/changed there either on CodePlex directly or here.

We welcome the feedback from the community and the contributions that you'd like to make.

     Thank you,
    -RR
